The holiday cottages at Casa Delfim are located at the edge of the peaceful village of Santa Margarida, a little hamlet high up in the mountains, in the heart of the Algarvian hinterland and close to the delightful town of Alte.

The countryside here is wild and rugged and the views are superb.

The Holiday Cottages

The houses are all renovated with typical Portuguese materials, keeping the original style of rustic Portuguese Algarvian houses.

The cottages are all well-equipped with TV, WIFI, kitchen with all appliances.

There is also a separate laundry room/house where you can wash and dry your laundry.

The village of Santa Margarida has two cafes/shops where you can buy some daily needs.

In Alte, just 2km from our holiday cottages, you will find a fine supermarket with all you daily needs, fresh bread, fresh fruit, delicatessen, vegetables, wine shop, a butcher’s shop and lots of foreign products.

The small town Alte is all cobbled streets and picturesque white buildings decorated with splashes of colour – through painted trims, doors and windows as well as colourful flowers and foliage.

Holiday in Casa Delfim

Take a walk to Santa Margarida and enjoy the village and the Country views.

In Alte there are some nice shops where you can find crafts and local products on sale, for example, the House of Soaps, where soaps are made with local ingredients, such as fig, carob, orange and honey which gives a very original scent to the soap.

In the center of the village there are a few cafes and one of them is Agua Mel, it offers a wide variety of sweet pastry, as it’s so typical in Portugal. Also local jams and liquors. Good service. Wi-fi for free.

In the region, the hills of Algarve, you will discover a world apart, far from mass tourism

A lesser known Algarve that has a charm all its own, with a slow pace of life, hearty delicious food and fascinating traditions.

There is no shortage of walking routes either, and we can suggest several walks that can be combined with visits to Algarve’s historic towns and villages.

The coast of the Algarve and the beaches around Albufeira are just 25 minutes drive south.

Algarve enjoys one of the most stable climates in the world with its moderate and kind weather influenced by both the Atlantic and Mediterranean sea and its proximity to North Africa.
